Once upon a time, a Lyft passenger asked her driver a question.

Inger was heading home from a business trip and grabbed a Lyft. She wasn't a talkative soul, but her driver was, and his name was Nick.

 

She asked if he drove full-time, and he said he when he wasn't traveling. He'd been on 6 trips already that year already and said he leaving the next week for his 26th trip to Italy!

Inger's 30th anniversary was coming up, and she wanted to rent a condo in Santorini for 2 weeks. She said she had no idea what to do there and asked Nick for some advice. He shared some tips on finding flights, but said if she was going to go to Europe she should explore it — plus Santorini wasn't the place to stay for two weeks!

 

Nick's advice was this, "Once you get to Europe, it's easy to go from country to country. " Well, maybe for him, but knowing how she could make that happen was a different story! 

 

So justfor fun, she asked if be planned trips for other people, and he said mostly for friends and family, and occasionally their friends. By this time, she was home, so he suggested she could follow him on Instagram if had any questions.

A few days later, Inger tried his tips for finding flights, and they were totally legit! She found some great prices, but it didn't take away the fact that she was clueless on how to visit all the places she wanted and what to do! So she bravely DM'd Nick and ask if he'd customize a trip for her.

 

The next day she and her husband jumped on a zoom call and Nick asked all types of questions about where they each wanted to go, the types of hotels they liked, if they wanted to do any cool hikes, the dates they were available, and their budget. Inger thought he'd get back to her in a week, but 24 hours later, Nick texted and said he'd created their itinerary!!!! Whaaattt??!!!

They jumped back on a call with him and were absolutely blown away by the itinerary he'd created! They were going everywhere they asked and he had included all these cool little towns along the way. And what surprised them even more was the cost breakdown of everything... Nick had done it for 60% less than their budget!

Everyone thought she was crazy to trust her Lyft driver to plan a three-week trip to Europe — and let's be honest, she kind of was — but for some reason she just had a good feeling!

Half way through the trip, her husband posted on LinkedIn about where they'd been, where they were going, and the via ferrata they'd just done in Lauterbrunn..... And it blew up! Everyone was asking who planned this incredible trip, and he ended up referring close to 20 people to Nick!

Six month later, Inger and her daughter got tickets to Taylor Swift in Stockholm and reached out again to have Nick plan a 12-day trip leading up to the concert. It was equally amazing, and after months of asking and asking, she finally convinced him to start a business together!

 

So, that's how See Ya Travel came to be! It's growing based off of referrals and a passion to help people see they can take a 14-day trip abroad for less than a trip to Disneyland! 😂
